Piiholo Ranch - Horseback Riding Tour
Bordering Makawao, the Piiholo Ranch horseback riding tour takes place on the edge of the tropical rainforest. You will love exploring this private ranch in Makawao Maui. Enjoy the stunning views of the island, from Mt. Haleakala all the way to the ocean. You might also get to see wild pigs, cattle, Axis deer and colorful birds.
The ranch offers two and three hour private horseback riding tours. Both morning and afternoon rides are available.
Two Hour Private Horseback Adventure:
- Explore Upcountry Maui on horseback, walking or cantering across the pastures
- Enjoy views of eucalyptus forests, Mt. Haleakala and the ocean
- Coffee, water and a snack are included
- 2 person minimum for ride to go out
Three Hour Private Horseback Adventure:
- Explore Upcountry Maui on horseback, walking or cantering across the pastures
- Enjoy views of eucalyptus forests, Mt. Haleakala and the ocean
- Includes a 45-minute stop at owners' secluded cabins where lunch will be served (actual riding time for this tour is 2 hours and 15 minutes)
- 2 person minimum for ride to go out
- NON-RIDER OPTION - This option is for guests who do not want or cannot
horseback ride but want to join their party for lunch! These guests
will be transported via ATV to the cabins for lunch (max 5 guests).
Enjoy sights of the ranch on the way to the cabin.
Children & Adults Natural Horsemanship Riding Lessons:
- Minimum age is 4 years
- Private lesson is one hour for riders age 6+
- Private lesson is half and hour for children ages 4-5 years
- Lessons take place in the arena and are customized to students
- Groundwork, grooming and equitation are some of the skills taught

- Where and When:
- The two hour ride is offered at 9:30 am, 10:00 am and 2:00 pm daily, with a check-in 30 minutes prior to the tour.
The three hour ride is offered at 10:00 am, with a check-in 30 minutes prior to the tour.
Horseback riding lesson are available Monday through Friday at 1:00 pm. With advance notice lessons can be set up at 11:00 am, 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
All minors must have a guardian signed waiver and must wear a provided helmet.
Maximum weight per rider is 225 lbs (102 kg) depending on height. No minimum height or weight.
Pregnant women may not participate in this tour.
Riding Lessons minimum age is 4 years old.
