Kohala Kayak Tour
Enjoy a fun, exciting kayak trip along the South Kohala coastline. Discover coral gardens where green sea turtles feed among multicolored fish. In season you may see whales & dolphins. This is a great family activity with two different snorkel sites.
Guests will meet or be shuttled to our launching site. After a short orientation, guests will be outfitted with snorkeling gear and we will load the kayaks and paddles. The group will paddle about 1 mile (30 minutes) to the first snorkeling site. An orientation on how to use snorkeling gear will be given for those needing it (buoyant snorkel vests available). Your guide will snorkel in the water with you to point out reef life.
Spend about 30-40 minutes at this site exploring the area. Expect to see a live coral reef with a variety of colorful reef fish. Water depth will average about 20 ft.
After snorkeling, a snack with fresh fruit and Hawaiian style juices (guava, passion, etc.) will be served. Casual open discussion on coral reef ecology and questions answered on what was seen. Next the group will kayak about 1/2 or 3/4 mile to a second snorkel site (we have 5 different sites to choose from). Same routine as first. After our fill of fun, we will paddle back to the boat ramp.
The kayak excursion is guided by our staff of friendly professionals who follow respectful wildlife viewing practices in the outdoors. We use the best gear and equipment available.
Includes snacks, beverages & snorkel gear. Departs either Kaiwaihae or Puako small boat ramp.
